Diesel Mechanic (Shop + Field)

About Us

Atlas Broadband is a rural internet service provider founded in 1998 in Oologah, OK. We build and maintain high-speed fiber and wireless networks in communities big providers overlook. We’re community-first, boots-on-the-ground, and serious about building infrastructure that actually matters—without the corporate nonsense.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll keep our fleet and construction equipment running—because when the machines stop, the whole build stops.

  • Diagnose and repair diesel and gas-powered equipment (shop + on-site)
  • Perform preventative maintenance: inspections, fluids, filters, brakes, belts, batteries, etc.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions across electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems
  • Work on fiber-construction equipment like:
    • Horizontal Directional Drills (HDD)
    • Plows
    • Trenchers
    • Other light/heavy equipment used in field operations
  • Create discrepancy write-ups and document repairs/maintenance clearly
  • Order parts, track needs, and coordinate with the team to keep repairs moving
  • Drive a service truck to job sites as needed (valid driver’s license required)
  • Keep a clean, safe work environment—because busted knuckles are one thing, preventable accidents are another

What We’re Looking For

You’re the kind of mechanic who doesn’t just swap parts—you figure out what’s actually wrong.

  • Strong communication skills (with crews, managers, and other techs)
  • Solid knowledge of diesel and gas engines (small and large)
  • Comfortable diagnosing issues across:
    • hydraulics
    • electrical
    • mechanical drivetrains
  • Able to repair in the field or in the shop, depending on the situation
  • Can follow instructions, work well with a team, and still take initiative
  • Knows how/where to source parts and spot bigger repair needs before they become disasters
  • Has your own preferred tools/toolset (the shop has tools too—but you know how that goes)
  • Willing to travel to certain job sites when needed

Licenses

  • Valid driver’s license required
  • CDL not required — but a huge plus
